As we see more and more bullying and violence in school, it becomes especially important to build kindness in our students and classroom. Here are some simple ideas and FREEBIES for you!
I have 2 books that I like to read with my class to highlight kindness. The first is an interactive book
that breaks down the concept and engages the reader. The second book, Be Polite and Kind by Cheri Meiners, gives students more chances to review how to be kind.
Next, we do a kind versus unkind picture sort. We do it as a group and try to connect the pictures to things that are going on in our classroom. Here’s what our sort looked like. We didn’t use all of the pictures. We stuck to the pictures of examples that we see in our classroom.
There is also a worksheet version of the picture sort. Get both of the kindness sorts for FREE HERE!
To continue kindness past this one lesson, we also have a kindness jar in the classroom. Click HERE to download the FREE kindness jar and interactive book.
