There are a lot of ways to use a wireless doorbell in your special education classroom. Doorbells can be a great behavior management support tool during transitions. It can also add a fun twist to brain breaks. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Our students tend to be easily distracted, so we try to arrange it so that all of our centers and groups end at the same time. However, that doesn’t always naturally happen. This can cause havoc at transition time… some students are finishing up their work while other students have moved on to reinforcement. In the perfect world, our students are able tune out the distraction & remain focused on finishing their work. Not sure about you, but I don’t teach in a perfect world!
Enter the wireless doorbell! Our rule now is that no center or group ends until the music plays. The doorbell (below) that we got has 36 different sounds and comes with a remote. Click the photo below to read more about this specific doorbell.
